Special Projects Coordinator II

Wildlife

Hourly Wage: $29.70/Regular/Full-Time

 

Incumbent manages all aspects of the YN Public Hunting Program. This includes management of the public hunting permit sales and production, This also includes the annual development of the public hunting "Feel Free to Hunt" map; organizing the annual hunter questionnaire; coordinating the signing of refuge and hunting lands in coordination with the Realty Specialist position and Land Enterprise, assisting the biologists with the development of public hunting bag limits and season dates for approval by Tribal Council; development and coordination of youth firearm safety education project; the development of new income generating public hunting projects; and other public hunting-related activities as they arise. Management of the Wildlife Program on-line store and on-line permit sales and assistance in the development and operation of the non-consumptive wildlife project will be required.

 

This position will also be responsible for the established and management of special issue permits and regulations in direct compliance with the YN Tribal Council F&W Committee Actions, Revised Law & Order Code, and/or resolutions pertaining, but not limited to, animal and predator control, protection or enhancement of upland gamebird and waterfowl, and the hunting of big game on and off the reservation.

 

This position will be responsible for the planning and implementation of the annual Wildlife Wilderness Camp activities. This will include coordination with other programs involved in the camp.

 

Examples of Work Performed:

Organizes and implements all activities necessary for the proper management of the Public Hunting Program.

Manages the program's on-line store, permit sales and other activities.

Plans, manages and oversees all activities related to the annual Wildlife Wilderness

Assists in the planning, development and operation of the program's non-consumptive wildlife access project.

This position conducts technical and/or administrative support for projects established under primary goals and objectives of the Wildlife Resource Program that may be encumbered by specific funding restrictions.

This position establishes and maintains current files of court actions and decisions on Indian Hunting Issues, both nationally and within the State of Washington.

This position represents program manager and project leaders by attending multi-agency conferences, meetings and seminars.

This position represents the Wildlife Resource Program in public relations by way of writing and distributing written materials as well as verbal communication with sportsman, Indian hunters and general public.

This position assists the Wildlife Biologists and technicians on brood surveys, scientific data collection, physical work, transportation, etc.

Works Closely with INCOMMAND for the YN Wildlife website for any updates per YN PH&F permit seasons. Also works with CYBERSOURCE, KEYBANK Merchant Account, YN Department of Revenue and YN Central Accounting on behalf of the YN PH&F sales.

Works closely with the big game biologist to create sign-ups for special hunting permits, coordinate drawing, and prepare permits for approval.

Works with the Big game biologist and OLC to provide input on regulations for tract d, Montana bison hunt, and other hunting related projects.

Creates Montana Bison hunting permits and Permit Request Forms for Montana hunting.

Attends the Bison hunt orientation to answer hunters questions as needed.

Assists the Big Game Program by selling buffalo to the community and keeping track of sales and receipts.

 

May be assigned new projects and tasks not included on the description, or to assist other Wildlife Management staff as requested by supervisor ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of bookkeeping principles and practices of the Yakama Nation Financial system.

Knowledge of modern secretarial and general office principles, practices and techniques.

Knowledge of the governmental processes of the Yakama Nation.

Knowledge and proficiency in computer use, specifically Microsoft Office products including, Word and Excel.

Ability to prepare financial reports, statements and cash flow summary reports.

Ability to independently manage and complete many activities simultaneously.

Ability to creatively devise new and efficient mechanisms for project implementation.

Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Ability to understand and execute complex oral and written instruction and to apply available guidelines to widely varied situations.

Ability to adequately represent the Yakama Nation to a wide variety of public forums.

Has the ability to communicate in a professional manner with the public and be honest.

Has great organizational skills, this position works on several projects simultaneously.

 

Minimum Requirements:

Minimum of an Associate Degree and four years of experience implementing projects such as those stated in the description. Job related experience of ten years may substitute for education.

Must possess a valid Washington's State Driver's license with the ability to obtain a Yakama Nation Driving Permit.

Required to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
