Job Summary

This position is responsible for assisting the Printing Services Coordinator in the overall operations of the Customer Service program. The position acts as the Printing Services Coordinator in their absence. The position assist working with customers to develop and produce consistent high quality finished products, providing exceptional customer service with prompt and accurate responses to printing requests. They influence decision makers at the College with their high level of specialization in printing industry capabilities. Assist in supporting Customer Service team activities by provide standard guidance, helping train staff, and addressing routine issues in accordance with established procedures and direction.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities & Knowledge Skills & Abilities

  • Provide standard guidance and assist customers in preparing specifications for print requests using established formats and procedures.
  • Ability to operate department machinery including digital black/white and color copiers, plotters, silkscreen printer, wide format and engineering printers, offset presses, binding and finishing equipment, vinyl banner and poster printers, digital production copiers, paper cutter, canvas and photo printing equipment, and related finishing tools. Perform production work including preparing and printing files using Mac and PC systems following established processes.
  • Operate cash register, assist with scheduling production work as directed, support employee training, and complete timecard processes in accordance with department procedures.
  • Ability to follow established workflow processes and assist in maintaining production schedules to meet deadlines. Working knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of printing and related applications.
  • Working knowledge of electronic file transfer, file preparation, and computer print processes, including formats such as vector, EPS, JPEG, TIFF, and PDF. Demonstrated working knowledge of graphic and publishing software programs including Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, and Acrobat, as well as Microsoft Word, Publisher, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work independently within established guidelines. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to follow and apply technical procedures and regulations. Demonstrated customer service and public relations skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships within a diverse environment. Ability to respond to customer questions by providing clear and accurate information. Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive communications.
  • Ability to complete assigned tasks by applying established processes to meet time, cost, and quality expectations. Maintain current knowledge of standard practices and tools used in the printing services environment.
  • Ability to review job requirements and apply established options to complete work assignments. Demonstrates accuracy and attention to detail in completing tasks. Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of customers and staff across the College.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two (2) to five (5) years direct, full-time, paid work experience in copy, print, customer service and/or marketing.

Trade off 1:1 in experience/education requirement.

Preferred Qualifications

Prefer experience in the operation of digital imaging equipment with the necessary skills and abilities in a copy, print, and design environment, Web design knowledge and experience.
