ROLE AND PURPOSE
The primary role of the Career & Technical Education Specialist will be to work directly with the Coordinator of Career & Technical Education, faculty, and Central Office departments to ensure the further development and sustainability of the district's CTE programs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution required
- Valid Texas CTE teaching certification (preferred)
Experience Required:
- Five years of successful classroom teaching experience
- Knowledge of Career and Technical Education programs
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate and conduct teacher professional development
- Knowledge of new and emerging technologies in business and industry
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
I. INSTRUCTIONAL MANAGEMENT
- Oversee curriculum development and implementation
- Coordinate and conduct teacher professional development
- Oversee Career and Technical Education Programs
II. SCHOOL/ORGANIZATION CLIMATE
- Supports the district-wide goals and objectives for school and organization climate
- Relates to all Career and Technical Education staff and students in ways that convey equality and mutual respect
- Responds appropriately to situations that could impair the teaching and learning process or could threaten safety and wellbeing of students and staff
III. SCHOOL/ORGANIZATIONAL IMPROVEMENT
- Work with teachers to meet instructional needs of all students
- Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of Career and Technical Education
- Work with Special Education department to help ensure equal access for all students.
- Work with CTE teachers to develop curriculum in support of district goals and Strategic Plan
IV. ADMINISTRATION AND FISCAL/FACILITIES MANAGEMENT
- Assist in the selection of textbooks, resource materials, and other instructional media
- Assist in developing the annual Career and Technical Education plan and other TEA reports
- Collect data, prepare reports, and develop needs assessments for CTE and Carl Perkins legislation
- Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of Career and Technical dual credit programs
V. STUDENT MANAGEMENT
- Serve as liaison between Career and Technical Education director, teachers, counselors, and students
- Work with teachers to meet instructional needs of all students
VI. SCHOOL/COMMUNITY RELATIONS
- Assist in conducting business and industry needs analysis for program development
- Promote Career and Technical Education programs in the schools and community, including technical dual credit programs
- Coordinate activities such as career days, course fairs, career awareness field trips, and registration in CTE programs
- Disseminate information about Career and Technical programs to students, parents, and the community
- Maintain CTE website
- Develop CTE promotional and marketing materials to students and community

- Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Director of Career and Technical Education
