Position Summary
Reporting to the VP-ADI, the incumbent provides strategic leadership for MSU's Continuing Education (OCE). The role is responsible for advancing the growth, quality, and impact of the university's continuing education, non-credit, and professional learning portfolio by expanding access to lifelong learning opportunities. The position connects prospective and returning learners, working professionals, employers, and community members with high-quality educational pathways while increasing the visibility, accessibility, and reach of MSU's credit-bearing, non-credit, and professional development offerings.
Major Responsibilities
1. Strategic Program Development and Portfolio Management (30%)
- Lead the design, development, implementation, and continuous improvement of MSU's continuing education and non-credit program portfolio.
- Partner with colleges, academic units, and faculty to identify, develop, and launch high-quality educational offerings that address workforce demands, industry trends, and lifelong learning needs.
- Evaluate program performance and recommend enhancements to ensure quality, relevance, and sustainability.
2. Market Analysis and Academic Consulting (30%)
- Collaborate with academic units to identify and evaluate emerging market opportunities for continuing and professional education.
- Provide strategic consultation on program design, delivery modalities, credentialing pathways, pricing strategies, and learner engagement models.
- Conduct market and competitive analyses to inform program development and investment decisions.
3. Policy Development and Academic Innovation (20%)
- Lead the development and implementation of policies, procedures, standards, and best practices that support the effective administration of continuing education programs.
- Promote consistent operational practices across academic units and facilitate the adoption of innovative educational models, including microcredentials, digital badges, stackable credentials, and other alternative learning pathways.
- Ensure alignment with university policies, accreditation requirements, and applicable regulatory standards.
4. Partnership Development and External Engagement (10%)
- Develop and cultivate strategic partnerships with employers, industry, government agencies, community organizations, and other external stakeholders to expand educational opportunities and inform program development.
- Foster collaborations that strengthen workforce development, professional learning, and community engagement initiatives.

Required Degree
Masters -Education, Educational Administration, Educational Psychology, Adult & Lifelong Learning, Continuing Education, Instructional Design, MBA, or equivalent.
Desired Degree
Doctorate -Higher, Adult, Lifelong Education; Education; Educational Psychology; or equivalent.
Minimum Requirements
- 5+ Years of experience working with multiple academic programs in a central university Higher Ed or Continuing / Lifelong Education unit.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with student experience management, customer experience management, or financial administration of participant registration.
- Experience building relationships with participant organizations.
