Overview THIS OPPORTUNITY is part of the Anode Materials division. The Engineering Specialist reports to the Process Engineering Manager and supports the operation, commissioning, and qualification of mechanical processing equipment and systems. Works closely with engineering, operations, and maintenance teams to support day-to-day production and new equipment startup activities. Note: as the company evolves, working arrangements, locations, and hours may change to meet business needs.Responsibilities Monitor and troubleshoot mechanical processing equipment including crushers, mills, shapers, blenders, and sievesExecute commissioning and qualification activities for new and existing equipmentPerform functional testing and verification of mechanical, electrical, and control systemsManage and issue Safe Work Permits and implement and control LOTORead and understand P&IDs and cut sheets; verify equipment specs, valve locations, and adequate safety devicesMaintain accurate records and contribute to turnover packagesSupport and deliver operator and maintenance personnel trainingCarry out general to advanced mechanical tasks utilizing hand or power tools, as neededPerform continuous communications with operators, management, and engineeringFollow all company policies with regards to health, safety, environmental, quality, and performanceWork closely with the Engineering department on cost reduction opportunities on the mechanical equipment and its processesOther duties as assignedQualifications Proficient in all aspects of equipment and testing requirements for rotating (motors, pumps, compressors, etc.) and static (vessels, heaters, piping, exchangers, etc.) mechanical equipmentAttentive to detail, able to digest large quantities of data, make connections between the data, and execute process changes based on those connectionsWorks and communicates well under pressure, and can make, execute, and justify operational decisionsComfortable communicating with a broad spectrum of associates, including operators, engineers, managers, contractors, vendors, and supervisorsProficient in oral and written communication skills, including Microsoft 365Able to multitask and work without immediate supervisionIn possession of a valid driver's licensePassionate about creating and maintaining a great work cultureWilling to go the extra mile to get the job done and to satisfy customers/stakeholdersRequired and Preferred Qualifications A high school graduate or GED; post-secondary degree in industrial maintenance, automation, or process technology preferredAn experienced engineering or process technician with a minimum of 3 years of experienceThe ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in mechanical operations, equipment commissioning, or process validation in industrial or manufacturing environmentsMillwright CertificationAdvanced degree or course work in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or similarCarbon, battery, or graphite manufacturing experienceExperience working in a cross-functional team to achieve common goalsFamiliarity with a MES is preferred but not requiredJob details Seniority level: Not ApplicableEmployment type: Full-timeJob function: Engineering and Information TechnologyIndustries: Renewable Energy Semiconductor ManufacturingReferrals increase your chances of interviewing at NOVONIX by 2xGet notified about new Mechanical Engineering Specialist jobs in Chattanooga, TN.#J-18808-Ljbffr
