Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism or closely related field.
  • Three to five years of experience public relations or journalism.
  • Strong writing, graphic design, video production skills
  • Experience in a variety of media including website, social media, new releases, video scripts, annual reports, brochures, speeches, etc.
  • Experience creating brand identity for community engagement programs and events.
  • Working knowledge of social media and web content management and metrics collection for communication efforts.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite for graphic design, Constant Contact email marketing software, SharePoint for website, video and photography apps for smartphone.
  • Some experience with marketing campaign development and implementation.
  • Extensive marketing campaign development and implementation experience.
  • Excellent public relations and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to organize, self-motivate and work in teams.
  • Ability to complete multiple projects independently with tight deadlines.
  • Position requires high levels of community and campus interaction.
  • Position requires attendance at frequent after-hours events and meetings.
  • Portfolio review will be a major consideration in applicant screening and selection.

Primary Purpose:

This position will work with the Executive Director of Community Partnerships and Partners in Education School-Business Partnership Coordinator to implement a comprehensive communications plan for both Katy ISD Education Foundation and Partners in Education, including but not limited to social media messaging, graphic design, video production, social media-driven fundraising along with support for Katy ISD School-Business Partnership portal.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead graphic design for both Katy ISD Partners in Education and Katy ISD Educational Foundation.
  • Plan and implement social media campaigns for all Katy ISD Partners in Education and Katy ISD Education Foundation.
  • Plan and oversee all aspects of collateral development including design, layout, printing while ensuring on-time product delivery.
  • Engage outside vendors as needed for both photography and video production, overseeing the project from start to finish and ensuring compliance with district messaging and standards.
  • Manage and monitor content on both Katy ISD Partners in Education and Katy ISD Education Foundation social media sites including Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), YouTube, Instagram. DesignConstant Contact email messaging, incorporating messages into overall communications plan.
  • Produce various in-house photography and video projects by shooting, editing then distributing the final product.
  • Maintain Katy ISD Education Foundation and Partners in Education web pages (Share Point) ensuring quality, relevant, interactive content.
  • Create graphics for social media, website and other online communications vehicles.
  • Coordinate teacher grant activity communications, incorporating grant implementation into social media calendar and other materials.
  • Provide team support for Katy ISD Education Foundation and Partners in Education meetings and events.
  • Liaise with Katy ISD Communications Department.
  • Provide exceptional customer service for all parties engaged in Katy ISD Education Foundation and Partners in Education programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
