QUALIFICATIONS

Education - Required:

Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or related field of study

Education - Preferred:

Master's Degree in Chemical Engineering or related field of study

Years of Experience:

Minimum ten plus (10+) years of related experience required

Supervisory Experience:

Less than one (1) year of related experience required; one to three (1-3) years of experience preferred

Licenses and Certifications:

Other Skills/Experience -Required:

  • Creativity and technical ability to initiate, direct, and control specific projects within an assigned area of expertise
  • Knowledge of automotive body and chassis requirements
  • Expert knowledge within an assigned area of responsibility

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

The following salary information applies solely to the Ontario, Canada location.

Total Compensation: $105,000 - $140,000 CAD

Immediate, open position

  • Assist Cosma global divisions, engineering, and R&D with technical issues.
  • Communicate technical results to both intern and external technical resources.
  • Coordinate and lead communication initiatives with global divisions regarding equipment advances, new technologies, best practices, lessons learned, and process optimization.
  • Interface with OEM customers and provide single focus for engineering representation.
  • Develop new technologies to meet increasing customer requirements relative to innovation.
  • Fill pipeline of R&D projects to stay ahead of customer specifications and requirements.
  • Conceive novel approaches to new applications/products or existing issues.
  • Create RFQs for requirements necessary to carry out divisional and R&D projects in order to understand potential cost and/or benefits.
  • Troubleshoot divisional issues.
  • Provide necessary consultation required to help launch programs or manufacturing facilities.
  • Recommend alterations and enhancements to improve quality of products, systems, or procedures.
  • Responsible for keeping the organization abreast of developments in a designated area of expertise.
  • Plan training sessions, establish procedures, and document lessons learned for future use.
  • Plan and execute testing, development, DOE, and pre-production trials.
  • Prepare project progress reports and business cases showing current and potential costs for ongoing and upcoming projects.
  • Review product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements, and related specifications in a designated area of expertise.
  • Analyze engineering results and propose product changes to determine feasibility, improvement of components and systems, and functional performance specifications.
  • Confer with engineering personnel to prepare design modifications as required to satisfy performance requirements.
  • Interpret technical specifications from OEMs.
  • Perform periodic audits of divisions or suppliers that fall within an assigned area of expertise.
  • Review supplier analytical results to aid divisions in monitoring their processes.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Act with honesty and integrity, and make ethical business choices in accordance with Magna's Compliance Policies and Procedures.
