What you will do::
The Production Lead Associate is responsible for leading daily production activities while performing hands-on manufacturing and assembly work. This role supports production operations by coordinating workflow, assisting with complex production tasks, maintaining quality standards, and providing guidance and training to team members. The Lead Production Associate serves as a technical resource on the production floor and works closely with supervisors to ensure production goals, safety standards, and customer commitments are achieved.
Depending on the business unit, this role may support manufacturing of doors, millwork, roof trusses, wall panels, or other building components.
Production Leadership
- Coordinate daily workflow, assign tasks, and help prioritize workloads to meet production schedules and customer needs.
- Lead by example by working alongside the team in hands-on production and assembly activities.
- Monitor daily production goals, troubleshoot workflow issues, and communicate needs or concerns to supervisors and support teams.
Manufacturing & Quality
- Manufacture and assemble building products according to work orders, blueprints, engineering drawings, and production specifications.
- Safely operate saws, hand and pneumatic tools, machinery, and other production equipment.
- Verify measurements, specifications, and finished products to ensure accuracy and company quality standards.
- Identify defects, material concerns, or production issues and help implement corrective actions.
Team Leadership & Development
- Train, mentor, and support Production Associates on equipment, processes, safety procedures, and quality expectations.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, productivity, and a positive work environment.
- Serve as a hands-on technical resource and help employees troubleshoot production challenges.
Safety & Operational Excellence
- Promote a safety-first culture and reinforce company safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements.
- Maintain clean, organized, and efficient work areas and report equipment, material, or safety concerns promptly.
- Support continuous improvement efforts focused on safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency.
- Perform additional duties as needed to support production operations.
What you will bring::
- Strong leadership, teamwork, communication, and organizational skills, with previous team lead or production leadership experience preferred.
- Manufacturing experience with strong mechanical aptitude; millwork, woodworking, door, truss, or specialty building-product experience is a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret production drawings, blueprints, templates, and work orders, and accurately use a tape measure and basic math.
- Experience safely operating saws, routers, drills, pneumatic tools, forklifts, and other manufacturing equipment; forklift certification or ability to obtain certification preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with a commitment to safety, quality, productivity, and continuous improvement.
- Ability to work in a physical manufacturing environment, including standing, bending, repetitive tasks, varying temperatures, dust and noise, and safely lifting up to 75 lbs.; occasional overtime, weekends, or travel may be required.
