In accordance with state and federal regulations and under direct supervision from the Pharmacist, this individual assists the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy and assists in the performance of other pharmacy department duties in accordance with company policies and procedures to support the gastroenterology & hepatology practices of Gastro Florida. He/She will work under the direction of the Pharmacy Manager and the Gastro Florida corporate office.Role:Assist Pharmacists as directed, including processing prescriptions (from intake to order completion), filling orders and verify accurate information utilizing the pharmacy department systems to obtain patient and drug information.Escalate questions regarding prescription to the Pharmacist for interpretation or provide direction on processing.Assist the Pharmacist in obtaining authorization for pharmacy services as requested and validate insurance coverage.Assists and supports pharmacy department on inventory management activities, such as ordering, unpacking, checking and storing shipment of pharmaceuticals and performs cleaning and stocking maintenance to ensure the pharmacy has adequate supplies and is clean, neat and orderly in condition and appearance.Document all supply management activities in the patient medical record.Assist with inbound and/or outbound patient or physician calls; work within multiple computer systems simultaneously to respond to questions or provide specific medication details/clinical information.Resolve customer issues; Assists Pharmacy in developing and maintaining good relationships.Perform quality control and auditing functions.Completes special assignments and other tasks as assigned.Requirements:Must be a registered pharmacy technician in the state of FloridaExcellent computer skills utilizing web-based applicationsExperience with PrimeRx is a bonus2 years of experience working in a retail pharmacy settingPreferred: 2 years of experience working in a specialty pharmacy settingExperience with biologic and infusion medicationPTCB
