Location: Hays, KS Pay Rate: $26.43 – $43.61 per hour (based on experience) Employment Type: Temporary Schedule: M-F,7am-3:30pm (30‑minute lunch)
Why This Role Matters This role plays a critical part in ensuring the accurate preparation and processing of surgical specimens, supporting pathologists and maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance in the laboratory.
What You’ll Do
Perform routine and non‑routine preparation of surgical specimens for histologic processing
Accession, label, and maintain specimen integrity and patient identification
Describe gross anatomic features of routine, uncomplicated surgical specimens
Measure, weigh, and document findings, including abnormalities
Dissect surgical specimens and prepare tissues for histologic processing
Escalate non‑routine or complex specimens to Pathologist Assistants
Interact directly with pathologists regarding gross dissection and specimen descriptions
Identify and resolve issues that could affect test performance or results
Complete all required documentation and paperwork
Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant work environment
Follow all corporate safety, quality control, and regulatory standards (CLIA, CAP, local and federal)
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor
What We’re Looking For
A current, up‑to‑date resume
A.A., A.S., B.A., or B.S. degree, or equivalent training and experience
3 months to 1 year of histology and/or surgical grossing experience preferred
