The specimen accessioning team plays a critical role in the pre-analytical and post-analytical phases of laboratory testing by receiving, logging, preparing, storing, and disposing of samples, without performing the actual testing. In this role, you receive incoming specimens, enter them into multiple computer systems, prepare them for laboratory analysis, and manage their lifecycle in storage. Work Environment
This role is based in a medical laboratory environment focused on diagnostic and therapeutic testing, where the specimen accessioning team supports both pre-analytical and post-analytical processes. You will work in a fast-paced, production-type setting that handles approximately 5,000 to 11,000 samples each day, primarily involving urine specimens with some blood, serum, plasma, and other body fluids. The position operates on a second-shift schedule from 5:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m., Tuesday through Saturday. Work takes place in areas with walk-in refrigerators and freezers, where you manage sample storage and maintenance over multiple time intervals. You will use multiple computer software systems, label printers, centrifuges, and freezing equipment as part of daily operations. New team members receive comprehensive on-the-job training to learn specimen accessioning workflows and laboratory protocols. The environment emphasizes accuracy, efficiency, and teamwork, with clear performance expectations and opportunities to transition from contract to full-time employment based on reliability and attendance. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.53 - $19.53/hr.
