Job Title: Specimen Technician - 3rd Shift
Job Location: Baltimore, MD
Job Duration: 6 Months of contract
Shift: Mon - Fri 08:00 PM – 04:30 AM (Night Shift)
Pay Rate: $22.00/hr
Job Description:
The Specimen Processing Technician I (SPT I) is responsible for providing general support within the Specimen Processing Department. This role requires a strong data entry background and the ability to perform a variety of laboratory support functions with accuracy and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform specimen processing tasks including A-station, presorting, centrifugation, and aliquoting
- Handle pickup and delivery of specimens to the laboratory
- Conduct imaging and microfilming of samples as required
- Ensure all tasks are completed accurately, confidently, and within established timelines
- Maintain organization and understand different specimen types related to client test orders
- Stay up to date with compliance regulations related to test ordering, which may change frequently
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, following all safety and biohazard protocols
- Communicate effectively with team members and other staff levels
- Demonstrate flexibility in responding to changing priorities and customer demands
Work Environment
- Fast-paced, production-oriented environment with a strong focus on quality and productivity
- Exposure to biohazard materials; strict adherence to safety practices is required
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Strong data entry skills (minimum 6,000 alphanumeric keystrokes per hour)
- Basic computer proficiency
- Good organizational and interpersonal skills
- Ability to adapt to frequent changes and maintain accuracy under pressure
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous laboratory or specimen processing experience
- Medical background with knowledge of clinical laboratory terminology
- Experience in a hospital or production environment
