Pay Rate: Starting at $17.00/hour (based on experience)

- Sunday-Thursday | 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM

Dean's Professional Services is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Specimen Technician (Tech Ops Floater) to support a leading national healthcare laboratory in Chantilly, VA. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced laboratory environment and enjoy hands-on work that directly impacts patient care.
As a Specimen Technician, you will play a critical role in the specimen processing workflow by ensuring laboratory samples are accurately sorted, processed, scanned, stored, and prepared for testing while maintaining strict quality and safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Receive, sort, scan, and process incoming laboratory specimens
- Aliquot, label, and prepare specimens for laboratory testing
- Pull and store specimens in refrigerated and freezer storage areas
- Retrieve samples from -20°C freezers for short periods (5-10 minutes at a time)
- Perform data entry while maintaining speed and accuracy
- Package and transport specimens throughout the laboratory
- Operate centrifuges and other specimen processing equipment
- Maintain productivity and quality standards in a high-volume production environment
- Follow all laboratory safety, biohazard, and compliance protocols
- Keep work areas organized and communicate effectively with team members
- Adapt to changing priorities and departmental needs
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Basic computer and data entry skills required
- Ability to accurately perform high-volume data entry
- Previous laboratory, healthcare, hospital, or specimen processing experience preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology is a plus
- Experience in a production or high-volume work environment preferred
- Ability to stand or sit for extended periods
- Comfortable working in a biohazard environment and handling refrigerated and frozen specimens
- Flexible to work weekends, holidays, overtime, and additional shifts as needed
