Why This Role Matters As a Specimen Processing Technician (SPT I), you play a critical role in ensuring lab specimens are processed accurately and efficiently, directly impacting test results and patient outcomes.
What You'll Do
Perform specimen processing tasks including presort, A-station, centrifugation, and aliquoting
Handle pickup, delivery, and preparation of specimens for laboratory testing
Accurately enter data (target of 6,000 keystrokes/hour)
Support imaging and microfilming processes
Follow strict compliance, safety, and biohazard protocols
Maintain a clean, organized workspace while meeting productivity standards
Adapt to daily changes in testing requirements and workflow needs
What We're Looking For
A current, up-to-date resume
High school diploma or equivalent
Strong data entry and computer skills
Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities
Ability to work in a fast-paced, production-driven environment
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Flexibility and adaptability to changing processes and requirements
Prior lab, medical, or production experience preferred but not required
Basic knowledge of medical terminology or specimen handling is a plus
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
Ability to meet compliance requirements
