    Job Summary:
    The Specimen Processing Technician I (SPT I) provides essential support within the specimen processing department, ensuring accurate handling, processing, and documentation of laboratory specimens. This role requires strong data entry skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment.

    Key Responsibilities:
    • Perform specimen processing functions including A-station, presort, centrifugation, and aliquoting
    • Ensure accurate data entry and specimen handling
    • Transport processed specimens to laboratory areas
    • Perform imaging and microfilming tasks
    • Maintain productivity and quality standards in a production environment
    • Follow safety protocols while working in a biohazard environment
    • Keep work areas clean and organized
    • Communicate effectively with staff at all levels
    • Adapt to changing requirements and compliance regulations
    Required Experience:
    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Strong data entry skills (6,000+ alphanumeric keystrokes/hour)
    • Basic computer knowledge
    • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
    • Strong organizational and communication skills
    • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as needed
    Nice-to-Have Experience:
    • Previous laboratory or specimen processing experience
    • Medical background or knowledge of medical terminology
    • Experience in hospital or clinical laboratory settings
    • Experience in production or high-volume environments
