osition Title: SPED ARD and 504 Facilitator

Position Summary: The SPED ARD and 504 Facilitator acts as the primary campus coordinator for special education and Section 504 administrative processes. This role focuses on ensuring legal compliance, managing documentation, and facilitating collaborative meetings between staff and families. Working under the direction of the District Special Programs Coordinator, the Facilitator is responsible for scheduling all ARD and 504 meetings, drafting high-quality individualized plans, and leading meetings to ensure they are productive, compliant, and student-centered.

Job Scope: This position has no direct supervisory authority

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Meeting Facilitation & Coordination

  • Schedule and manage the campus master calendar for all Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) and Section 504 meetings, ensuring all statutory timelines are met.
  • Lead and facilitate ARD/IEP and 504 meetings, serving as the neutral party to guide the committee through data-based decision-making.
  • Draft and finalize comprehensive IEPs and 504 Accommodation Plans, ensuring all documents reflect current student data, evaluations, and committee decisions.
  • Coordinate the invitation process, ensuring all required stakeholders (parents, teachers, administrators, and related service providers) are notified within legal timeframes.

Compliance & Documentation

  • Maintain all student records for Special Education and Section 504, including ESY, evaluation reports, progress monitoring, and behavior intervention plans (BIPs).
  • Audit documentation for procedural compliance with federal and state laws (IDEA and Section 504).
  • Manage the referral process for students suspected of having a disability, coordinating with the evaluation team to meet initial timelines.
  • Oversee the distribution of "Instructional Arrangements" (accommodations/modifications) to all general education teachers and support staff.

Program Support & Collaboration

  • Work under the direction of the District Special Programs Coordinator to ensure campus practices align with district-wide compliance standards and specialized programming.
  • Support the MTSS process by assisting campus teams with data-based decision-making and identifying students who may require formal evaluation.
  • Collaborate with families to explain procedural safeguards, parental rights, and the services available to their children.
  • Monitor student progress through classroom observations and data review to ensure plans are being implemented with fidelity.

Direct Student Support (As Needed)

  • Assist in crisis intervention and de-escalation as part of the campus support team.
  • Provide specialized instruction or support in small group settings if required by the campus model to maintain student success.
  • Maintain emotional control in stressful situations and assist students with physical or behavioral needs as required.

Minimum Education, Experience and Certification:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education or a related field (Required).
  • Master's Degree in Special Education or Educational Leadership (Preferred).
  • Recommended: Five (5) years of teaching experience or prior experience in ARD facilitation.
  • Valid Special Education Certification (Required).

Skills and Capabilities:

  • Ability to carry up to 25lbs and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Must have or be willing to receive training in CPI, Autism, and Behavior Intervention
