POSITION: Special Education Teacher (General)
LOCATION: Randolph County Elementary School
JOB SUMMARY:
The Randolph County School System seeks dedicated and student-centered Special Education Teachers who hold or are eligible for Georgia certification in Special Education to support the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional growth of students with disabilities.
The Special Education Teacher provides specialized instruction and collaborates with general education teachers to ensure students receive appropriate services and access to the general education curriculum. This role includes developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), providing differentiated instruction, monitoring student progress, and promoting inclusive practices that support student achievement and independence.
The Special Education Teacher works closely with school administrators, general education teachers, related service providers, families, and support staff to ensure students receive high-quality educational services aligned with IDEA, state regulations, and district expectations. QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field, required;
- Valid Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) teaching certificate in Special Education General Curriculum (P–12) or eligibility for certification;
- General Education certification (Elementary Education or related field) preferred or required depending on assignment;
- Knowledge of IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring;
- Experience supporting students with diverse learning, behavioral, and developmental needs preferred;
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and Board may find appropriate.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Strong understanding of special education law, IDEA compliance, and IEP procedures;
- Ability to design and deliver differentiated and specially designed instruction;
- Knowledge of inclusive practices, co-teaching models, and collaborative instructional strategies;
- Ability to analyze student data to guide instructional decisions and monitor student progress;
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with teachers, families, and multidisciplinary teams;
- Ability to create a positive, structured, and supportive learning environment;
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in maintaining documentation and compliance requirements;
- Ability to effectively integrate instructional technology and assistive technology to support student learning;
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive student information with professionalism.
