Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Must have a passion for students, especially students with disabilities. Must have the ability and patience to work interactively with students, especially students with disabilities. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong computer skills to implement multiple and diverse programs. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
Preferred KSAs
2-3 years of experience as a SPED Paraprofessional for a Charter School. 2-3 years of experience maintaining and supporting programs designed for students with disabilities.
Responsibilities and Duties
Help teacher prepare instructional materials and classroom displays. Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom. Help with inventory care and maintenance of materials and equipment. Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports. Assist in the implementation of ARD identified accommodations or for students or small groups of students. Demonstrate support for student management policy. Assume responsibility for learning how to work with students individual needs. Help supervise special education students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom, which may include some campus duties. Keep special education teacher informed of special education student progress and needs. Maintain confidentiality. Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events as assigned. Perform special projects during and after normal business hours and other duties as assigned. May travel as necessary.
