Role Description The SPED Teacher role at Cross Country Education is a contract, on-site position located in Lawndale, CA. In this role, the SPED Teacher provides specialized instruction to students with diverse learning needs, develops and implements Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and adapts curriculum and instructional strategies to support student progress. The teacher collaborates with general education teachers, administrators, related service providers, and families to ensure coordinated support and appropriate accommodations. Daily responsibilities include delivering direct instruction in small group and individual settings, collecting and analyzing data on student performance, and maintaining accurate documentation in compliance with district and state regulations. The SPED Teacher also participates in IEP meetings, contributes to behavior and classroom management plans, and fosters an inclusive classroom environment that promotes student independence and engagement.

• Ability to design and deliver specialized instruction, differentiate curriculum, and implement IEP goals effectively.

• Skills in progress monitoring, data collection, and using assessment results to adjust instructional strategies.

• Strong collaboration and communication skills for working with multidisciplinary teams, families, and school staff.

• Competence in classroom and behavior management, including developing positive, supportive strategies for diverse learners.
• \n
• Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and compliance requirements (IDEA, state and district policies).

• Valid Special Education teaching credential or license for California, or eligibility to obtain appropriate certification.
• \n
• Experience working with students with mild to moderate and/or moderate to severe disabilities in school settings is preferred.
• \n
• Ability to maintain accurate records, complete required documentation, and use educational technology and digital tools effectively.
• \n
• Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive teaching practices.
• \n
• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Special Education, or related field; advanced degree in Special Education is a plus.
