Speech and Language Pathologist for the 2026/2027 School Year Sunrise Drive Elementary School Full-time, 1.0 FTE

Essential Functions: (Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following tasks, knowledge, skills and other characteristics. Tasks:

  • Develop speech, language, feeding and swallowing therapy plans and deliver therapy to students in group and individual sessions.
  • Evaluate and screen students for specific speech, language, feeding and swallowing impairments.
  • Meet with parents and teacher and gather information about student abilities and concerns.
  • Document evaluations, screenings and treatments and write case reports and summaries.
  • Tailor teaching materials for each students treatment plans.

Physically assist and/or position multiply challenged students, increase fine motor control and maximize effectiveness of therapy sessions. May train Educational Assistant, Special Education Teachers and regular Teachers in assisting with speech and language development of assigned students.

Knowledge, Skills and Other Characteristics:

  • Knowledge of speech and language pathology, assessing needs and the range of effective potential treatment options.
  • Knowledge of state and local laws and CFSD rules and regulations regarding speech and language assessment and treatment of students.
  • Knowledge of universal precautions required when exposed to blood, mucus, saliva, urine, and bowel movements.
  • Skill in assessing speech and language needs and developing and implementing treatment plans.
  • Skill in using specialized equipment such as auditory trainers, audiometer and adaptive hardware and software.
  • Skill in communicating effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff, administrators, students, parents and medical professionals.

Special Requirements:

  • Must have an Arizona Speech-Language Pathologist (PreK-12) certificate at the time of hire
  • Valid Arizona Drivers License and clear driving record
  • Valid Arizona IVP Level One Fingerprint Card
