Requirements / Qualifications

Summary Under the direction of the Special Education Director and site administrator, plan and implement strategies and techniques for students with language, speech and hearing disabilities; monitor and evaluate student progress; consult with parents, faculty, administrators and specialists concerning the language, speech, and hearing needs of students. Brief Description of Duties Provides screening, diagnostic evaluation and therapy for students identified to be deficient in any of the following areas of communication: articulation, phonology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics, voice quality, fluency. Design and implement an IEP with goals and objectives designed to remediate developmental areas for each child in the caseload. Determine if additional referral is necessary. Attend required meetings, IEP meetings, staff development and training sessions. Confer with parents, teachers, and others as needed to coordinate services. Maintain and control required records in a neat and orderly fashion. Prepare and submit reports in a timely manner. Maintain confidentiality with complete security. Qualifications Valid California credential authorizing services for speech and language impairments. Knowledge of modern techniques for the screening, evaluation, and therapy for identified students. Ability to work cooperatively with students, staff, outside agencies, and parents. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Valid driver's license.
