The Sarah Cannon Cancer Network-Head and Neck Specialists team at HCA Healthcare Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC is seeking an experienced speech-language pathologist specializing in Head and Neck Oncology to join our comprehensive head and neck multidisciplinary team. This individual will work alongside head and neck surgeons, another speech-language pathologist, nutritionists, counselors, radiation and medical oncologists and nurses to provide evidence-based care for patients undergoing treatment for head and neck cancers.
As a part of HCA Health Care Mission Hospital and Sarah Cannon Cancer Network facility, we are part of a united network of globally recognized oncology specialists who collaborate and share best practices in order to deliver seamlessly coordinated, quality patient care for complex head and neck cases. Engagement and involvement with other HCA Healthcare Head and Neck programs will be a part of this role with clinical, academic, research, and teaching roles involved. Weekly regional tumor conferences and monthly national conferences will provide this individual with direct involvement with other team members locally and nationally. The position is a full-time position with a focus on the evaluation and treatment of adults with speech, voice, and swallowing disorders related to head and neck cancer. The successful candidate will have prior experience in the evaluation and treatment of the head and neck patient and will collaborate with our multidisciplinary team composed of highly skilled specialists in head and neck oncology.
Responsibilities Include:
· Development and implementation of evidence-based treatment plans for speech, voice, or swallowing disorders related to head and neck cancer
· Clinical swallow evaluations
· FEES
· MBSS
· Tracheostomy management including speaking valve placement
· Alaryngeal Voice Restoration & laryngectomy care including TEP management
· Participation in Head & Neck tumor board
· Pre-Operative Counseling
· Prophylactic care for the oral preservation population
· Voice evaluation and treatment including videostroboscopic exams
· Participation in patient, family, staff, physician, student, and community outreach/education through provision of education and in-services
· Program development through participation in research and/or local, state, national, or international conferences/presentations/meetings
Qualifications:
· Graduation from an accredited school of a master's level Speech Language Pathology program is required
· Must be licensed as a Speech Language Pathologist in North Carolina, in accordance with law and regulation
· Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCCs) per ASHA preferred
· A current American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider is required
· Must be proficient in MBSS
· Preferred: At least 1 year of experience treating head and neck cancer patients, including laryngectomy patients and TEP placement
EDUCATION:
Master’s Degree in Speech and Language Pathology isrequired.
EXPERIENCE:
1+ years’ experience in direct patient rehab isrequired.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:
Currently licensed as a Speech/Language Pathologist in the state(s) of practice,in accordance withlaw and regulation. - Required
Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) - Preferred
