TITLE: Speech and Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) II. QUALIFICATIONS:A. An associate's degree in a SLPA program OR a bachelor's degree in a speech language pathology or communication disorders programB. Successful completion of a minimum of one hundred (100) hours of supervised field work experience or its clinical experience equivalentC. Demonstration of competency in the skills required of an SLPAD. Apply and receive the Idaho Division of Occupational and Professional Licensers (IBOL) SLPA licensure prior to beginning employment.E. Valid Idaho driver's license.F. Must have own transportation. Mileage will be reimbursed by the district.G. Ability to work with students, staff, parents, and the public.H. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. III. REPORTS TO: Director of Student Services; Speech and Language Supervising Pathologist IV. JOB GOALS:To support the delivery of School District 91's written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement.To support Speech and Language Pathologists in providing service delivery with students identified with speech or language impairments so that the student may benefit from a free and appropriate public education. Support SLP in administrative duties. V. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: A. Self-identify as SLPAs to families, students, patients, clients, staff, and others. This may be done verbally, in writing, and/or with titles on name badges. B. Exhibit compliance with The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) regulations, reimbursement requirements, and SLPAs' responsibilities. C. Assist the SLP with speech, language, and hearing screenings without clinical interpretation. D. Assist the SLP during assessment of students exclusive of administration and/or interpretation. E. If bilingual, assist the SLP with bilingual translation during screening and assessment activities exclusive of interpretation; refer to Issues in Ethics: Cultural and Linguistic Competence (ASHA 2017). F. Follow documented treatment plans or protocols developed by the supervising SLP. G. Provide guidance and treatment via tele practice to students, patients, and clients who are selected by the supervising SLP as appropriate for this service delivery model. H. Document student performance (e.g., tallying data for the SLP to use; preparing charts, records, and graphs) and report this information to the supervising SLP. I. Program and provide instruction in the use of augmentative and alternative communication devices. J. If bilingual, serve as interpreter for students and families who do not speak English. K. If bilingual, provide services under SLP supervision in another language for individuals who do not speak English and English-language learners. L. Maintains and submits data for Medicaid billing. M. Seeks out opportunities for professional growth. N. Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality of student information. VI. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: A. Performs all other duties as assigned. VII. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This is a full-time position scheduled for 35 hours a week. This position will be paid grade 15 $30.20 or $31.68 (with a bachelors degree or 5 years relevant experience) per hour. Benefits will be in accordance with Board Policy. The exact terms of this position will be determined by the needs of the district and budgetary constraints.This is an "at will" position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time or for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The "employment at will" policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and expressly approved by the Board of Trustees of District 91. VIII. EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Director of Student Services in accordance with provisions of the negotiated master agreement and board policy.
