Our client is looking for a dedicated and qualified Certified Speech Language Pathologist to provide critical educational support services in Cape Vincent, NY. This role specifically focuses on serving incarcerated individual students who demonstrate an academic need and have an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) indicating required speech and language services.
This is a highly structured role requiring high reliability, punctuality, and the ability to maintain a professional, secure environment while delivering impactful educational and therapeutic support to students. Primary Responsibilities
IEP Implementation: Deliver targeted speech and language services as explicitly outlined in each students Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
Academic Support: Address the specific academic needs of incarcerated students by improving their communication, comprehension, and literacy skills.
Progress Tracking: Monitor, document, and report on student progress, ensuring compliance with academic and institutional guidelines.
Collaboration: Work alongside facility educators and administrative staff to integrate speech services smoothly into the students' broader academic schedules.
Minimum Qualifications
Certification: Valid and active New York State Certification as a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP).
Education: Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Sciences and Disorders.
Requirements: Ability to pass necessary background checks and clearances required to work within a New York State correctional facility infrastructure.
Competencies: Strong interpersonal communication skills, adaptability in non-traditional educational settings, and strict adherence to facility safety and security protocols.
