Stacey L. Buck, Ltd. is a Chicago-based speech and language practice that works with children, adolescents and young adults to help them become more confident and independent learners.

Our work is highly personal. We take the time to understand each individual, where they are struggling, how they learn and what will help them move forward. Treatment is shaped around the person rather than a standard approach, with an emphasis on building skills and strategies that can make a difference not only in school, but in everyday life.

We bring that same individual approach to the people who work here. Caseloads are kept manageable so clinicians have the time and attention to do their best work with each child and family. While our work is primarily in person, we also recognize that people do their best work when there is some flexibility around the demands of their lives. We make time to share ideas, talk through challenges and learn from one another, whether that means finding a new way to engage a student, thinking through why progress has slowed or simply having another perspective when one is needed.

We also believe that good clinicians never stop learning. Stacey invests in professional growth through supervision, consultation and continuing education, and looks for people who are curious about their work and want to keep getting better at it.

For more than 20 years, the practice has earned the trust of families and professionals by taking the time to understand the whole child and working collaboratively with the people around them. We are looking for someone who brings that same combination of expertise, curiosity and genuine investment in the young people and families we serve.

The Role

\n

\n

You will work directly with school-age children, adolescents and young adults, evaluating and treating speech and language needs while building strong relationships with the families and professionals who support them.

\n

\n

This is a full-time position with approximately 25 booked client contact hours per week. The remaining time is available for preparation, documentation, communication and collaboration. You will have a private office designed for focused, distraction-free sessions, and billing is handled separately so you can focus your time on your clients and clinical work.

\n

\n

Your Responsibilities

\n

\n

·      Evaluating and treating clients referred for speech and/or language therapy

\n

·      Providing thoughtful, individualized treatment that considers the whole child, not simply the immediate speech or language need

\n

·      Communicating regularly with parents and care teams about what you are working on, progress you are seeing and other observations that may be helpful

\n

·      Collaborating with teachers, learning resource specialists, social workers, tutors, neuropsychologists and other professionals involved in a student's care

\n

·      Connecting periodically with teachers and other professionals by phone or Zoom to discuss progress and coordinate support

\n

·      Meeting with parents once or twice a year to discuss progress, supported by a written progress report

\n

·      Maintaining calendars, client files and session notes through the practice's EMR

\n

\n

Our approach with students is calm, direct and encouraging. We reinforce strengths and a growth mindset and are intentional about giving students the time they need to process and respond, including using a slower rate of speech and longer pause times when appropriate.

\n

\n

What We're Looking For

\n

\n

Clinical Fellows are welcome to apply. Clinicians who already hold ASHA CCCs and an Illinois license should be comfortable with session observation as part of the practice's collaborative approach to supervision and professional development.

\n

\n

A strong candidate will bring:

\n

·      A solid working understanding of the five areas of language and how they affect communication and learning

\n

·      An interest in working with students ranging from school age through college

\n

·      Curiosity and a desire to continue developing through supervision and continuing education

\n

·      A collaborative approach to working with families, educators and other professionals

\n

·      A preference for in-person treatment, with the flexibility to provide virtual treatment when appropriate

\n

·      A willingness to occasionally travel to one or two schools to work with students

\n

\n

Professional development is part of the work here, not something separate from it. Stacey provides supervision through session observation and documentation review, with time to discuss treatment approaches, questions and challenges as they arise.

\n

\n

There are also opportunities to contribute to the broader work of the practice based on your interests, including projects such as presentations, educational resources and the annual newsletter.

Employment

Employment: Full-time preferred

\n

Salary: $58,000-$65,000, depending on experience and caseload

\n

\n
