Job Type: Regular Primary Shift: Day Hours (8:00 AM - 4:30 PM) Estimated Hours per Week: 40 Bi-Weekly Hours: 80 Weekend Needs: As Scheduled

Pay Rate: $44.46 - $65.80 per hour This is a bargaining union position.

Per the Collective Bargaining Agreement, current bargaining unit employees have priority consideration for this position if they apply within seven (7) days of the posting date. After this period, all applicants will be considered equally.

GENERAL SUMMARY

Responsible for speech therapy services administered to patients with speech, language, voice, cognitive, or swallowing disorders. Services will cover both the evaluative and therapeutic aspects. All services will be consistent with Medical Center and Rehabilitation Department operating objectives.

AHA-BLS certification is required; however, certification is not a qualifying factor to obtain the position.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

1. Graduate of an approved ASHA curriculum
2. Possess certification of clinical competence in Speech Language Pathology
3. Possess current New York State Speech Pathologist license

Skills Required:

1. Ability to communicate effectively to patients regarding the anticipated treatment plan, level of patients expected participation, and expected outcome.
2. Ability to relate to the public and medical staff as a member of the rehabilitation team.

Additional Requirements:

1. AHA-BLS is required within 6 months of hire or a current non-AHA-BLS card will be honored up to the date of renewal.
2. As applicable, the individual has training and competency in attending to the special needs and/or behaviors appropriate to the age of the patients for which care is being provided.
