Job Title:    Speech-Language Pathologist (K-12)FLSA Status: Exempt 

Reports to: PrincipalTerms of Employment: 10 Months



Position Summary:
The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) will identify, assess, and treat communication disorders for students across the K-12 spectrum. This role involves developing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), collaborating with classroom teachers, and providing direct therapy to improve students' ability to succeed academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Screening & Evaluation: Conduct comprehensive assessments for speech, language, voice, and fluency disorders.

  • IEP Management: Develop and implement measurable goals within the IEP framework; maintain meticulous documentation in ECATS (NC's EC tracking system).

  • Direct Therapy: Provide individual and group therapy sessions tailored to student needs (articulation, language processing, AAC, etc.).

  • Collaboration: Consult with parents, teachers, and the Exceptional Children (EC) team to integrate speech goals into the general curriculum.

  • Compliance: Ensure all services meet federal (IDEA) and North Carolina state mandates.

Minimum Training and Experience:

Education: Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from a CAA-accredited program.

NC State License: A current, valid license from the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists (NCBOESLPA).

Testing: Passing score on the Praxis Exam in Speech-Language Pathology (Test 5331) with a score of 162 or higher

ASHA Certification: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) preferred.

Physical & Technical Requirements

  • Ability to travel between school sites if serving a multi-school caseload.

  • Proficiency with digital IEP management software and teletherapy platforms.

  • Strong organization skills to manage a caseload typically ranging from 50-60 students (NC guidelines).
