Job Title: Speech - Language Pathologist

Reports to: Senior Executive Director for Student Services Principal

Terms of Employment: Salaried 10 Month Employee Extra months outside of 10 month contract are determined and approved annually Salary: State Salary Schedule plus local supplement FLSA Status: Exempt

Qualifications: Masters Degree in Speech-Language Pathology Passing score on a competency test approved by the NC Board of Examiners for Speech and Language Pathologists and Audiologists Registration with the NC Board of Examiners for Speech and Language Pathologists and Audiologists by a supervising speech-language pathologist who is licensed by the NC Board of Examiners for Speech and Language Pathologists and Audiologists

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provides consultation, seeks assistance of others, uses related research, and makes recommendations and referrals in the implementation of services
  • Plans therapy and uses appropriate diagnostic tools and therapy techniques
  • Manages time, facilities, and resources to facilitate delivery of services
  • Promotes effective interpersonal relations and engages in continuing professional growth activities
  • Develops individual education programs
  • Conducts screening and testing, obtains diagnostic information, analyzes information, and makes recommendations regarding programs and services
  • Organizes the local program, cooperates with others to accomplish its goals, coordinates program services with other student services, and maintains records in accordance with established rules, regulations, and ethical standards
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor

Physical Requirements: The major physical and cognitive requirements listed below are applicable to this job classification within Person County Schools. Work in this classification is considered light physical work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects.   • Various types of disabilities seen in school children
  • Various speech language disorders
  • Approaches to therapeutic educational intervention
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of:
  • Behavioral management practices
  • The operation of schools
  • Obtain case histories and complete observation checklists
  • Administer speech-language screening and therapeutic protocols
  • Manage, operate, program, and/or monitor clinical-educational equipment and materials
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, and professionals
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records
  • Arrange the therapy setting to maintain a safe and positive environment
