Summary:
Provide Speech services for students receiving special education as a related service. Provide case management, school staff consultation and serve in the Individual Education Program (IEP) team member when appropriate.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Evaluate speech, language, and general developmental skills of students. • Evaluate and report current levels of ability and recommendations for intervention. • Review and discuss medical and developmental case histories with the IEP team to determine individual student needs and strategies. • Develop treatment goals and activities for the specific need of the student, and appropriate equipment or materials to be used in that treatment. • Provide consultative, direct therapy services and ongoing support to students in appropriate environments as needed. • Provide consultation, training and/or technical assistance to teachers and others involved in the education of students. • Document student progress and contact time including therapy logs and Medicaid reports. • Comply with all Board of Education policies, administrative regulations, Public Education Department guidelines and local, state and federal laws. • Perform other duties as assigned, reasonably related to the scope of the position.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's Degree with a certification by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) or equivalent in the area of speech-language pathology Professional competency as a speech-language pathologist Current New Mexico licensure as well as NMPED license
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Knowledge of Dine language, culture, and history preferred • Good communication skills and customer service skills
Physical/Job Requirements:
• Standing, sitting, walking, lifting, carrying up to 50 pounds, climbing, bending, reaching, kneeling, driving a vehicle, traveling long distances, writing, typing, word processing, reading, researching information, and effective communication skills.
