Position Overview

The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) delivers direct rehabilitation services in speech therapy to patients referred by physicians, adhering to all relevant laws, regulations, and organizational standards.

Educational Background, Experience, and Licensing Criteria
  • Must have graduated from an accredited speech therapy program (minimum MS or MA in SLP).
  • ASHA certification (CCCs) is required, or eligibility for a 9-month Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) to obtain ASHA certification (CCCs) and/or meet ASHA credentialing standards. Once obtained, ASHA credentials must be maintained.
  • Must hold a current registration/license in the relevant state, maintaining an active license in good standing throughout employment.
  • Preferred one (1) year of experience; new graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • CPR certification is required upon hiring or must be acquired during orientation. This certification must remain current throughout employment.
Job Responsibilities
  • Engage in community health initiatives and projects as appropriate.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email communication.
  • Collaborate with patients, families, and support departments to effectively address patient needs.
  • Exhibit proper body mechanics at all times.
  • Demonstrate the ability to make independent decisions when necessary.
  • Familiar with practices, procedures, and the laws and regulations governing operations in a post-acute care setting.
  • Implement and interpret departmental programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.
  • Perform competently in all areas, including but not limited to patient rights, safety, and sanitation.
  • Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, vendors, and others.
  • Ensure confidentiality of all proprietary and sensitive information.
  • Understand and adhere to organizational policies, including those related to harassment and compliance.
  • Exhibit integrity and professionalism by following the organization’s Code of Conduct and completing all required compliance training.
Core Responsibilities
  • Set, evaluate, and adjust realistic, measurable, timely, and functional goals.
  • (SLP CCC only) Responsible for supervising and assessing the care provided by SLP CFYs.
  • (SLP CFY only) Follow speech therapy treatment plans for patients under the guidance of the supervising SLP CCC, in compliance with Federal and State regulations.
  • Document patient information accurately and promptly.
  • Utilize therapy software effectively and accurately.
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain a positive demeanor towards patients.
  • Assist in the safe evacuation of patients when necessary.
  • Demonstrate reliable and consistent attendance.
  • Employ reasoning skills and sound judgment in various situations.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Engage in physical activities such as sitting, standing, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, stooping, walking, reaching, and moving intermittently during work hours.
  • Read, write, speak, and comprehend the English language proficiently.
