JOB DESCRIPTION:

Livonia Public Schools is seeking a passionate and student-centered highly qualified speech-

language pathologist committed to building strong relationships and creating meaningful

learning experiences within a supportive school community. The speech- language pathologist

will work to prevent, assess, diagnose, and treat speech and language communication disorders

that interfere with the student's ability to participate in the general education curriculum or

educational program.

DISTRICT OVERVIEW:

Livonia Public Schools employs approximately 1,800 staff members, serving approximately

13,100 students pre-K post secondary. There are 15 elementary schools, 3 middle schools, 3

high schools, 1 career technical center, 1 early childhood center and 1 vocational and transition

center in the School District. The annual budget for Livonia Public Schools is $180 million, with

a state funding of $10,000 per pupil.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

The following is a list of minimum qualifications for this position, any one of which may be

waived by the Superintendent in exercising the prerogative to determine appropriate

qualifications.

  • Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology
  • State of Michigan Speech-Language Pathology license
  • Demonstrated commitment to high levels of learning for all students
  • Ability to build and maintain positive, respectful relationships with students, families, and

colleagues

  • Strong interpersonal, collaboration, and teamwork skills
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to use student data to inform instruction, monitor progress and

provide intervention

  • Commitment to creating an inclusive school environment that supports diverse learners
  • Experience implementing a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence preferred

MAJOR FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Champion the District's mission, vision, and collective commitments by placing students

and their learning at the center of all decisions

  • Build strong relationships with students and establish clear expectations that support a

respectful and productive learning environment

meet the diverse needs of all learners

  • Monitor student learning through ongoing assessment, maintain accurate records, and

communication

  • Collaborate with colleagues and support staff to implement the District's MTSS (Multi-

Tiered System of Supports) framework, including identifying student needs and providing

targeted interventions and supports.

  • Integrate district and building goals into practices and contribute to a culture of

continuous improvement.

  • Use district technology and instructional tools to support teaching, learning, and

communication

  • Maintain professional growth through ongoing learning, reflection, and participation in

district and self-selected professional development, including keeping certification

current

  • Supervise students and ensure their safety and well-being throughout the school day

and during assigned duties

  • Serve as a resource to school staff members to improve communication skills for all

students.

  • Assist and guide teachers in observing, describing, and referring suspected and

identified speech and language impairments.

  • Evaluate students for speech and language impairments.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and other school staff members to implement

therapy for the student's daily activities.

  • Serve as a member of the Achievement Team/Educational Planning and Data Dive

Team.

  • Perform differential diagnosis for students with communication disorders.
  • Implement evidence-based intervention with individual and groups of students in various

communicative settings.

  • Draft, implement, and maintain legally compliant IEP's and complete required

documentation for Medicaid billing.

  • Utilize formative assessment to drive specialized instruction and progress monitor IEP

goals and objectives.

  • Develop and implement augmentative communication systems to support students'

access to the curriculum.

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

The work year, salary, and fringe benefits will be consistent with the current agreement between

the Board of Education and the Livonia Education Association. The deadline for applications is
