Speech Language Pathology Assistant

Hot Springs School District Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) Reports To Director of Special Services Position Summary The Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) provides direct speech-language services and support to students. The SLP implements therapy plans, collects student data, prepares instructional materials, supports augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems, and promotes student communication skills across educational settings. SLP provides case manager services to students that have speech as their primary disability category. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide speech-language therapy services to students. Deliver speech-language services in accordance with student Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Implement therapy activities and interventions. Collect, maintain, and organize data regarding student performance and progress toward IEP goals. Prepare therapy materials, visual support, and instructional resources to support student learning. Support the use of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems, communication devices, and assistive technology. Utilize educational technology and software programs, including AAC applications and visual support tools such as LessonPix, to create communication supports, visual schedules, social stories, and instructional materials. Collaborate with teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers to support student communication and educational success. Maintain confidentiality of student records. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Services. Qualifications Master's degree in Communication Disorders. Eligible for or holding appropriate South Dakota licensure or certification as required. Knowledge of speech and language development, communication disorders, AAC systems, assistive technology, and educational practices. Ability to utilize technology to support communication and learning, including AAC devices, communication applications, and visual support software. Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively with students, families, and school personnel. Evaluation Performance will be evaluated annually by the Director of Special Services. Physical Requirements Ability to move throughout school buildings and classrooms. Ability to lift, carry, and position instructional materials and equipment.
