Speech/Language Technician

Description:

Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and patient Speech/Language Therapy Facilitator to join our team. In this role, you will be the vital on-site link between our students and their remote Speech-Language Pathologist(SLP). You will set up technology, escort students from their classrooms, manage student behavior, and guide students through their digital speech sessions to ensure they get the most out of their therapy.

Responsibilities:

Performance responsibilities:

• Work with individuals and small groups of students on Speech/Language goals and objectives, as part of their individual Education Plan, under the virtual SLP's direction.

• Supervise and guide small and large group instruction, as set up by virtual SLP.

• Assist individual children in need of special attention or programming, as requested.

• Maintain the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of teachers.

• Perform related duties as requested by the virtual SLP, special education support teacher, and /or building principal.

• Maintain data and accurate records related to virtual speech sessions provided for each student.

Student Support & Engagement:

Escort students to and from their classrooms to the designated speech therapy room.

Keep students focused and motivated using positive reinforcement during their virtual sessions.

Assist with physical materials or hands-on activities directed by the remote SLP.

Technology & Logistics:

Set up computers, headsets, and webcams prior to each scheduled session.

Log students into the tele-practice platform and troubleshoot basic connectivity issues.

Maintain the daily schedule to ensure students arrive and log on in time.

Communication & Documentation:

Collaborate closely with the remote SLP to understand individual student goals and needs.

Track daily attendance and log brief notes on student engagement or technical issues.

Communicate consistently with classroom teachers regarding student schedules.

Requirements:

Must be highly qualified (Associate's degree or successful score on the Para-Pro Assessment exam).

Experience working with children, ideally in a school, daycare, or camp setting.

Basic tech-savviness, including comfort using laptops, webcams, Zoom/Google Meet, and troubleshooting

Wi-Fi or audio issues.

Strong patience and behavior management skills for working with diverse learners.

Excellent communication and organizational abilities.

Preferred:

Prior experience as a Paraprofessional, Teacher's Aide, or Behavior Technician (RBT).

Familiarity with special education, IEPs, or speech-language development.

This position is for the school year only and is for 6.5 hours per day for 5 days per week.

Salary: An annual salary between $23,000.00 and $38,000.00, dependent on educational attainment and experience.

Supervision: Reports to the Director of Student Support Services.

Speech/Language Technician

Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and patient Speech/Language Therapy Facilitator to join our team. In this role, you will be the vital on-site link between our students and their remote Speech-Language Pathologist(SLP). You will set up technology, escort students from their classrooms, manage student behavior, and guide students through their digital speech sessions to ensure they get the most out of their therapy.

Responsibilities:

Performance responsibilities:

• Work with individuals and small groups of students on Speech/Language goals and objectives, as part of their individual Education Plan, under the virtual SLP's direction.

• Supervise and guide small and large group instruction, as set up by virtual SLP.

• Assist individual children in need of special attention or programming, as requested.

• Maintain the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of teachers.

• Perform related duties as requested by the virtual SLP, special education support teacher, and /or building principal.

• Maintain data and accurate records related to virtual speech sessions provided for each student.

Student Support & Engagement:

Escort students to and from their classrooms to the designated speech therapy room.

Keep students focused and motivated using positive reinforcement during their virtual sessions.

Assist with physical materials or hands-on activities directed by the remote SLP.

Technology & Logistics:

Set up computers, headsets, and webcams prior to each scheduled session.

Log students into the tele-practice platform and troubleshoot basic connectivity issues.

Maintain the daily schedule to ensure students arrive and log on in time.

Communication & Documentation:

Collaborate closely with the remote SLP to understand individual student goals and needs.

Track daily attendance and log brief notes on student engagement or technical issues.

Communicate consistently with classroom teachers regarding student schedules.

Requirements:

Must be highly qualified (Associate's degree or successful score on the Para-Pro Assessment exam).

Experience working with children, ideally in a school, daycare, or camp setting.

Basic tech-savviness, including comfort using laptops, webcams, Zoom/Google Meet, and troubleshooting

Wi-Fi or audio issues.

Strong patience and behavior management skills for working with diverse learners.

Excellent communication and organizational abilities.

Preferred:

Prior experience as a Paraprofessional, Teacher's Aide, or Behavior Technician (RBT).

Familiarity with special education, IEPs, or speech-language development.

This position is for the school year only and is for 6.5 hours per day for 5 days per week.

Salary: An annual salary between $23,000.00 and $38,000.00, dependent on educational attainment and experience.

Supervision: Reports to the Director of Student Support Services.
