Mount Prospect Elementary School is seeking a dedicated and passionate Speech Language Pathologist for a leave replacement position from September 1, 2026, to December 23, 2026. The successful candidate will work full-time to provide high-quality speech and language services to students, fostering their communication skills and supporting their academic and social development. This role requires collaboration with teachers, parents, and other specialists to create a supportive learning environment for all students.
Responsibilities
Conduct assessments to identify speech and language disorders in students.
Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's needs.
Provide direct therapy services to students with speech and language impairments in both individual and group settings.
Monitor and document student progress, adjusting therapy plans as necessary.
Collaborate with teachers and staff to integrate speech and language goals into the classroom environment.
Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress and strategies to support language development at home.
Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to the development of comprehensive support strategies for students.
Maintain accurate and confidential records of assessments, therapy sessions, and student progress.
Stay current with best practices and research in the field of speech-language pathology.
Requirements
Valid state licensure or certification as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
Experience working with elementary-aged children in a school setting is highly desirable.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and families.
Knowledge of various speech and language disorders and evidence-based intervention strategies.
Ability to manage a caseload and prioritize tasks effectively.
