Utilizes a comprehensive evaluation based on accepted professional standards to assess patient needs and functional status. Devise and implement appropriate treatment plans to promote the highest level of patient self-sufficiency. Regularly re-assess plan efficacy, provide appropriate education to patients and families and progress patients toward goals and outcomes that reflect improved independence.
Position Summary
The Speech-Language Pathologist is responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, and treating patients with communication, cognitive-linguistic, voice, and swallowing disorders. The SLP will develop and implement individualized treatment plans, provide patient and caregiver education, and collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, rehabilitation professionals, and other healthcare team members to support patient recovery and discharge planning.
Essential Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive speech, language, cognitive-communication, voice, and swallowing evaluations.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and goals.
- Provide evidence-based interventions for dysphagia, cognitive-linguistic deficits, communication disorders, and speech impairments.
- Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with facility, regulatory, and payer requirements.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, nursing, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, therapeutic recreation, and case management.
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers regarding treatment recommendations and compensatory strategies.
- Maintain compliance with all applicable federal, state, and facility policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
- Current CT state licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist required.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) required.
- Current CPR certification preferred.
- Experience with dysphagia management and medically complex adult populations preferred.
- Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining effective collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
Schedule Requirements
- Per diem position with weekday availability and Saturday coverage.
- Flexible scheduling based on departmental needs.
