Speech Pathologist - Inpatient Rehab
Job Description
Overview
Overview:
IU Health is looking for team members who are passionate about challenging and significant work for the good of every patient. We are searching for individuals who are compassionate, serve with a purpose, are dedicated to supporting their team, and who seek excellence every day.
Location: Riley Hospital - Inpatient Rehab
Shift: Typical work hours are 8am-4:40pm, Monday-Friday. Weekend requirements: 6-7 weekend days every 6 months and one holiday a year.
Requirements:
Day in the Life: Our SLPs treat a mix of oral dysphagia, pharyngeal dysphagia, cognition, and communication needs. Commonly seen diagnoses include traumatic and non-traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, respiratory illnesses, congenital disorders, and burn injuries. Patients are typically seen twice daily.
The pediatric rehab patient population at Riley Hospital is often medically complex with catastrophic life changes and challenging social circumstances. For these reasons, it is important that our pediatric rehab therapists understand typical and delayed development, possess strong counseling skills, and demonstrate empathy for all patients and family members during very difficult life stages.
Day to day life in pediatric rehab is more predictable than acute care. Still, there can be natural variability and unexpected changes to the schedule and/or therapy plans based on patient care needs.
