Speech Pathologist Kindergarten - 8th Grade

Duties

Position Purpose

Under the general supervision of the Director of Student Services the SpeechLanguage Pathologist will assist in developing speech language and communication skills to facilitate students personal communication abilities and overall educational development.

Ability to demonstrate knowledge and application of effective best practice speechlanguage therapy protocols

Provide individual and group speech therapy services collaborate with other building professionals to provide group serviceswhen appropriate

Utilizeassessments to conduct IDEA or Section 504 evaluations for the purpose of evaluating studentsspeechlanguage and communucation needs prepare reports with recommendations in a timely mannerpresent findings in an understandable way at team and parent meetings

Schedule complete thoroughpaperwork for andfacilitateEvaluationEligibility and IEP meetings for students eligible under SpeechLanguage Impairment

Identify create and implement data-based speech and language IEP goals collect regular data on goal progress submit quarterly goal updates on time

Maintain confidential records on the progress of each student on the designated caseload

Provide resources and supports to teachers and parents provide teachers with communication support tools and support implementation of alternate communication tools within the classroom

Participate in professional development activities aimed at current trends and best practices for the provision of comprehensive speech and language services

Utilize screening tools to identify students in need of MTSS services provide services and maintain data-based progress log

Assist with Preschool Screening

Maintain accurate service log and regularly submit Medicaid billing

Other duties as assigned

Additional Duties

  • Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Director of Student Services Principal or Superintendent.

Qualifications

CertificationLicense- Illiniois Professional Educators Licensein SpeechLanguge Pathology

Education- Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to assignment.

  • Masters Degree in SpeechLanguage Pathology.

Experience- Successful prior experience in elementary or middle school settings is preferred.
