Provide rehabilitative services for speech and language disorders as directed per the plan of care. Assist the physician, physician assistant, or advanced practice registered nurse in evaluating the patient to determine the type of speech or language disorder and the appropriate corrective therapy. Develop the patient’s treatment plan and update it as needed. Educate and counsel the patient and family regarding services and implementing speech therapy exercises and safe practices as directed. Instruct other health team personnel and caregivers in methods of assisting the patient to improve and correct speech disabilities. Monitor the patient's health condition and promptly notify the supervisor and patient’s physician/provider of any changes in their condition or respond immediately to an emergency, if appropriate, per plan of care.
