Evaluates and treats communicative and language disorders; performs swallowing assessment; administers audiometric screening; upon receipt of the physician order.
Responsibilities:
Evaluates and treats communicative, cognitive and language disorders following established protocols, safe practice guidelines and best practice.
Performs swallowing assessment: bedside swallow, FEES and/or video fluoroscopy.
Administers audiometric screening.
Communicates evaluation result, swallowing precaution and dietary recommendation to the patient’s nurse and physician.
Provides care education and swallowing precaution/ instruction to patient and the patient’s family when appropriate.
Collaborates with the patient’s other care providers on patient’s care continuum, discharge planning, and assistive device/equipment needs.
Completes accurate care documentation and processes procedure charge after each care episode in a timely manner.
Complies with the current SLP practice guidelines set by ASHA, CMS, TJC and other regulatory standards.
Required Qualification:
Minimum 1-3 years of experience
Degree from an accredited SLP program
Current IL SLP license and board certified
Preferred:
Bedsides swallow assessment, FEES, video fluoroscopy, dysphagia management, sign language skills
