About this Job
The Spirit and Intramural Coordinator at LSU Shreveport serves a dual role in enhancing student engagement through the development of a comprehensive spirit program and the coordination of a vibrant intramural sports program. This position supports the mission of the Office of Student Life and Recreational Sports by creating opportunities for school pride, student involvement, wellness, and community building.
The Coordinator will serve as the head cheer coach and primary administrator of the LSUS Spirit Program, including cheer and mascot operations, while also managing intramural leagues and recreational competitions that promote student wellness and engagement. This position will supervise student staff and a graduate assistant while fostering leadership development, risk management awareness, and positive student experiences.
This position reports jointly to the Director of Student Life and the Assistant Director of Recreational Sports and requires collaboration across Athletics, Media & Marketing, Student Life, and campus partners. Evening and weekend work is required to support games, events, and intramural activities.
Minimum Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelors degree.

At least one year of relevant experience in collegiate recreation, spirit programs, student activities, athletics, or program coordination.
Ability to obtain CPR/AED/First Aid certification within three months of hire.
Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.

Physical and Environmental Demands
Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Sedentary Work. Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible. NOTE: The constant stress and strain of maintaining a production rate pace, especially in an industrial setting, can be and is physically demanding of a worker even though the amount of force exerted is negligible.

Assist in planning campus-wide engagement events as needed
Support divisional initiatives related to student engagement and retention
Participate in departmental and divisional committees
