Job Summary
This position is responsible for all front-of-house operations, ensuring the safety, comfort, and overall experience of audience members from the lobby to the seating area. The House Manager serves as the primary liaison among audience services, the box office, and production staff. This position supports event production at Spivey Hall, the management and engagement of Spivey Hall ushers, and audience hospitality services for Spivey Hall patrons. The House Manager represents Clayton State University and Spivey Hall in a positive manner to a wide range of individuals and organizations and reports to the Director of Education and Community Engagement.
Responsibilities
40% - Manage the front-of-house operations of the Spivey Series, Spivey Hall Connects: Education & Community events, co-presentation events, Clayton State University Film, Communications, and Performing Arts Department events, and other Clayton State University department events that may include award ceremonies and lectures.
40% - Set up, operate, and organize volunteer usher staff and front-of-house equipment. This includes the use of online scheduling systems, Bluetooth ticket scanners, and other technology as needed.
10% - Provide audience hospitality services for visiting patrons, including ensuring ADA accommodations for individuals with disabilities and that spaces are clean and safe.
5% - In the absence of the Spivey Hall Production Manager or Spivey Hall Assistant Production Managers, supervise facility usage by event audiences, visiting artists, renters, and event organizers.
5% - Maintain up-to-date training in all safety procedures, including health (CPR, defibrillator), active shooter, weather, and other safety protocols.
Required Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
Undergraduate credit hours, an associate degree, or a bachelors degree in a performing arts-related field preferred.
Experience with concert/theater front-of-house operations.
Knowledge of classical, jazz, and/or world music.
