About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced BICSI trainer to assist with the setup and training of a Splicing/Structured Cabling school. We are looking for someone to build a program and train splicing and structured cabling teams. You should be familiar with splicing standards, quality control, documentation, and customer deliverables. This is a high‑impact role for a seasoned splicer or field leader ready to transition into a training position where their expertise directly shapes company‑wide processes, training, and quality expectations.
As the Splicing/Structured cabling trainer, you will serve as the internal authority on fiber-splicing best practices, oversee the creation of splicing packages, interpret OTDR data, support field teams, and establish consistent documentation and quality guidelines. You will define standards, drive quality, and ensure every deliverable meets the expectations of both the company and its customers.

Key Responsibilities- Serve as the primary Subject Matter Expert for all fiber splicing activities across the organization.
- Develop, implement, and maintain splicing standards, procedures, and quality guidelines.
- Create complete, accurate splicing packages including documentation, schematics, labeling, and customer‑ready deliverables.
- Interpret OTDR traces, analyze results, and compile clear, actionable reports for internal teams and customers.
- Conduct quality control reviews of splicing work performed by internal crews and subcontractors.
- Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and guidance to field personnel.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and customers to ensure alignment on splicing requirements and deliverables.
- Travel to project sites as needed (less than 50%) for audits, QC checks, and field validation.
- Maintain organized digital records, documentation, and project files.
- Support internal training initiatives and help elevate technician skill levels through coaching and structured guidance.
What Will Catch Our Eye- BICSI Installer 2 or Technician (INST2/TECH) preferred.
- FOA CFOT or CFOS/S strongly preferred.
- Manufacturer certifications (Fujikura, Sumitomo, INNO) a plus.
- Extensive hands‑on fiber splicing experience (construction, restoration, FTTH, backbone, rollable ribbon, ribbon, etc.).
- Strong ability to read, interpret, and analyze OTDR data and other fiber testing results.
- Proven experience creating splicing documentation, diagrams, or customer packages.
- High proficiency with PC usage, digital tools, and documentation platforms.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and serve as the company’s go‑to expert.
- Willingness to travel occasionally (<50%).
- Ideal for a splicer, lead splicer, or field technician looking to transition into a leadership, standards, and training‑focused role.
