Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

The Sponsored Programs Specialist performs critical administrative work supporting the management of sponsored programs, contracts, and grants funded by federal, state, local government, foundation, nonprofit, and other sponsoring agencies. Supports pre-award and post-award operations by applying established policies, procedures, and compliance requirements to ensure the accurate processing, monitoring, and administration of sponsored projects. Works collaboratively with faculty, staff, sponsors, and campus partners to ensure adherence to University and sponsor regulations. Exercises sound judgment, attention to detail, and customer service skills in support of the University's research and sponsored program activities.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provides administrative support for the management of sponsored programs, grants, contracts, and cooperative agreements.
• Assists pre-award and post-award staff members
• Reviews documentation for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with University and sponsor requirements.
• Maintains records and supporting documentation related to sponsored programs.
• Reviews and processes subaward invoices for accuracy, allowability, and compliance with contractual requirements.
• Identifies discrepancies and works with appropriate stakeholders to resolve issues.
• Supports compliance reviews as needed
• Performs routine analytical assignments using established procedures and guidelines.
• Responds to inquiries from faculty, staff, sponsors, and other stakeholders regarding sponsored program procedures and requirements.
• Provides exceptional customer service by delivering timely, accurate, and professional assistance.
• Maintains knowledge of applicable University policies, sponsor regulations, and departmental procedures, and serves as a resource to internal stakeholders
• Identifies opportunities to improve efficiency and consistency within established processes.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Shift

40 hours/week

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively
• Ability to work individually and in a team environment
• Excellent time management, follow-through, organizational skills, and attention to detail
• Strong proficiency in MS Office, including extensive and advanced use of MS Excel and MS Word

Anticipated Hiring Range

$45,968 - $65,520
