Spooler Operator

Job Description

As a Spool Winder Operator, you will operate and maintain specialized spooling equipment to produce high-quality spools of pressure-sensitive tape. You will work with various tape types, including acrylic foam, double-sided, and transfer adhesives, ensuring precise winding, tension control, and quality standards. This role requires hands-on mechanical skills and attention to detail to support our high-speed manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities- Set up, operate, and monitor spooling machines to wind pressure-sensitive tape onto cores in traverse or level-wound patterns.- Perform unwind/rewind slitting operations to prepare feed rolls for spooling.- Adjust tension, pitch, and dwell settings to ensure stable, uniform spools without defects like telescoping or gapping.- Splice feed rolls and manage liners for challenging tape materials.- Conduct quality checks to verify spool integrity, width, and length (up to 4000 meters).- Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform basic maintenance to minimize downtime.- Maintain a clean, safe work environment in compliance with company and OSHA standards.- Document production data and report any deviations from specifications.

Qualifications- Required:- 2+ years of experience in unwind/rewind slitting operations for pressure-sensitive tapes or similar materials.- Familiarity with converting equipment and processes.- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions.- Basic computer skills for data entry and machine operation.- Preferred:- Direct experience operating spool winding equipment for pressure-sensitive tapes.- Mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting and maintaining machinery.- Experience with acrylic foam tapes, unsupported adhesives, or other specialty tapes.- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training is a plus.- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
