About the role

  • At American Kids Sports Center, we provide Gymnastics, Ninja Zone, and Swimming lessons for children with special abilities. We are committed to training our staff to teach these lessons, giving them the tools they need to be successful. No experience needed in the recreational activities but require experience working with children with special abilities.   • As a Special Abilities Instructor you are responsible for the safety of each student while teaching them unique skills. You will work to build confidence within your students, encouraging each student to rise to the best of their abilities. You can expect to be regularly communicating with students, parents and fellow staff members. You should be someone who welcomes feedback and is a continuous learner.  
  • We have a fun and rewarding work environment with a great atmosphere for someone who loves teaching and being around kids. We offer paid training. Starting wage is negotiable, with prior experience. This is a full-time position that requires afternoon/evening and weekend shifts, in addition to some mornings during the week.

  • Follow our curriculum with a focus on the needs, abilities and comfort of each student.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children with special abilities
  • Caring and compassion for children and adults with special abilities
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds to safely spot gymnasts and move equipment
  • Requires to be on your feet while being active for 2+ hours a day
  • Strong communication skills
  • Great attitude and willingness to be coached
  • The ability to focus in a fast-paced environment
  • The ability to commit to at least 1 year of employment, afternoons and weekends required.
