Job Description
Summary
Individuals must be personable, outgoing, and exhibit exemplary customer service skills. Must have the ability to work non-traditional hours, such as late nights and weekends. This position requires good decision-making skills and the ability to work with little supervision during Sports & Competition events, including practices, games, and tournaments. This position will conduct sales and transactions as well as facilitate laundry and equipment. Individuals must be assertively friendly, creative, and have an extensive working knowledge about all MizzouRec facilities, services, and programs. Must take pride in the quality of their work, demonstrate initiative, and be attentive to details.
General Responsibilities
This position requires exceptional organization skills and prior experience in facility supervision, event management, or computer systems. Skills in risk management and facility security are also desired. This individual must be capable of maintaining responsibility for equipment and on-site supervision of events as prescribed by Sports & Competition professional staff and maintaining responsibility for on-site supervision of Sports & Competition events. This position may also consist of office hours during the day. They must also be able to multitask using several computer programs at one time. This individual must remain Adult CPR/AED/First Aid certified while employed in this position.
Duties Include
- Become familiar and competent with all facilities, equipment, and storage areas.
- Monitor and ensure the safety of all user groups utilizing MizzouRec facilities, as well as MizzouRec members throughout Sports & Competition events.
- Attend all staff meetings and trainings.
- Monitor and ensure the safety of all participants utilizing MizzouRec facilities during Sports & Competition programming.
- Maintain equipment in good working condition, report any maintenance issues, and restock supplies as needed.
- Serve as liaison between Sports & Competition Participants and Sports & Competition Lead on duty.
- Register participants/teams into sports and leagues using specialized software.
- Responsible for maintaining laundry before and during Intramural Sports activities.
- Provide security by monitoring equipment checkout and ensuring everyone using MizzouRec facilities are eligible to do so.
- Respond promptly and appropriately to medical emergencies and participant incidents during events, or as needed within MizzouRec, and during Sports & Competition programming.
- Data entry by inputting game scores, participation attendance, etc.
- Answer any questions and disseminate MizzouRec and Sports & Competition information as appropriate.
- Report any overdue equipment to Sports & Competition professional staff.
- Complete other tasks and projects assigned by Sports & Competition professional staff.
- Adhere to all Team Mizzou guidelines and non-negotiables.
Anticipated Hiring Range
$15.25 per hour, paid on a bi-weekly basis
Shift
Number of hours per week: 12-15 per week. Shifts are 5PM-8PM and 8PM-10:30PM.
This position may require evening and weekend hours supporting activities and programs within the department. Occasionally division and campus projects may require additional hours outside of your normal schedule.
Minimum Qualifications
To be eligible for a student title, an individual must be enrolled at the University of Missouri. Enrollment in the summer session is not required if the student was enrolled in the Spring semester and is pre-enrolled for the Fall semester. Selection is contingent upon results of a review with the Office of Institutional Equity, Office of Student Accountability & Support, Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, previous MU appointment history, and reference checks.

- Strong knowledge of and experience with MizzouRec facilities, services, and programs.
- Good decision-making skills.

- Moderate computer skills.
- Current on all Adult CPR/AED/First Aid certifications.
- Basic risk-management skills and facility security knowledge.
