Salary: $85,000 - $90,000 per year

A bit about us:

Full-scale, turnkey sports facility contractor serving schools, parks and municipalities across 30 states — with in-house key subs in every market they operate. Their portfolio spans multi-field natural-to-synthetic turf conversions (football, baseball, track), indoor sports facilities, and marquee builds like the Green Bay Packers practice facility. The company has doubled revenue year-over-year and is actively expanding its private-sector footprint.

This is a hunting business development role on a small, high-performing team reporting into a BD & Marketing leader who has flipped the business from 90% turf-manufacturer-driven to 90% public prime work in under a year, growing revenue 150% in the process. The company is now investing in private-sector growth — and this hire is central to that strategy.

Why join us?

Compensation & Perks:
Base salary: $85K–$90K, commensurate with experience
Uncapped commission plan, scaling with gross profit margin on closed deals (starting around 1.5% and increasing as margin performance grows — top performers with strong relationships have reached significantly higher tiers)
Commission paid out as projects bill
Company vehicle (truck) + corporate card for travel
Company laptop (Mac or PC, your choice)
Backlog goal of $100M+ and a $30M revenue target for the BD function — real runway to build something and be recognized for it

Why Now?
This company is in growth mode — not maintenance mode. Leadership has already proven the private-sector pivot works (see: multi-year NAIA-level and collegiate turf partnerships in progress) and is looking for someone who wants to build a book of business, not inherit one.

Job Details

What You'll Do

Hunt new business across the public bid/RFP space and, increasingly, the private negotiated space — pickleball, tennis, and other emerging athletic facility segments.
Build and manage relationships across the full project ecosystem: architects & engineers, owners, superintendents, general contractors, parks & rec departments, and municipalities.
Develop a strategic, long-term network rather than transactional relationships — GCs today may be construction managers tomorrow, and vice versa.
Target athletic facility projects of 80,000+ sq ft, with a goal of closing roughly 20 projects per year.
Represent the company at industry conferences and events (this is a year-round sales cycle, not seasonal).
Source public opportunities and hand off qualified leads to the preconstruction/estimating team.
Partner with marketing on positioning and lead generation as the company scales its BD function.

What We're Looking For

Experience selling services, not just product — someone who can speak the language of construction and guide a customer through the full project journey, not just push a turf order.
A go-getter who's comfortable saying "I don't know" and then going and finding the answer — self-directed, resourceful, and coachable.
Prior experience in sports construction, athletic facility development, or a related build environment strongly preferred.
Candidates with backgrounds as former collegiate or professional athletes are a strong fit — their networks tend to align directly with the buyer personas in this space.
Experience with cooperative (co-op) purchasing and strategic approaches to public procurement is a major plus.
Comfort managing a multi-million-dollar pipeline — average deal size runs ~$11/sq ft, meaning an 80K sq ft project is nearly $1M; top performers close $1M+ deals.
Based in or willing to cover the Central/Southern U.S. footprint (current coverage includes KS/OK/MO and TX/GA-area relationships, with strong emerging demand in KY, MS, TN, and IN).
