GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES The Sports Field Attendant may perform a variety of responsibilities such as Scorekeeper, Gatekeeper, Concessions, and Officiating for the various Sports Programs. SUPERVISION Under general supervision from the Parks & Recreation Sports Coordinator. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Responsible for opening and closing sports field facilities. • Complete routine cleaning and sanitizing of all equipment and facilities. • Regular observation and attending of sports fields to maintain safety protocols. • Perform other duties as assigned, within the scope of the duties and responsibilities outlined in the employee’s signed job description IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS • Demonstrate a high degree of professionalism at all times. • Demonstrate ability to support and function in team environment. • Reliability and dependability. • Participation in training, as needed. ESSENTIAL MENTAL ALERTNESS REQUIREMENTS • Able to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner. • The ability to perform tasks involving high levels of cognitive function and judgment. • The ability to take prompt and appropriate response to operating conditions. • The ability to work in an unfatigued state. • The ability to accurately gauge lengths of time and distance. • The ability to quickly store and recall instructions in one’s short-term memory. • The ability to concentrate. • The ability to cope with sudden changes in surrounding and/or emergency situations and/or alarms. • Always demonstrate a caring, committed, and concerned attitude about safety. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND TRAINING Must be at least 15 years of age. Specific on the job training provided. Prior sports field experience preferred. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES • Always demonstrate excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. • The ability to meet and deal with the public in an effective and courteous manner. • The ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail amidst a multitask, changing priority environment. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS • Frequent amounts of time spent walking or standing. • Occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, twist and climb. • The ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 20 pounds on an occasional basis. • Hold and grip objects. LICENSING AND CERTIFICATION • CPR and First Aid certification preferred; may be required for certain duties • AED certification preferred; may be required for certain duties • Valid Missouri Driver’s License preferred and may be required for certain duties. If a MO driver's license is required, must be able to remain insurable under the City’s liability insurance policy. |
