    Position Summary 
    Under the direction of the Recreation Coordinator and/or Recreation Leader, the Sports Official is responsible for officiating games for leagues and tournament play. This includes enforcing rules and regulations, maintaining fair and unbiased judgment during gameplay, ensuring safety for all participants, and fostering a positive environment. Officials must understand the fundamental rules of the sports they officiate and maintain professionalism at all times.
     
    Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    The following are examples of primary duties assigned to this position. Other related duties may be assigned.
    • Officiate games with honesty, integrity, and fairness.
    • Understand, interpret, and enforce sport rules and regulations.
    • Ensure sportsmanlike conduct and a safe environment for players, other officials, and spectators.
    • This may include diffusing intense situations with coaches and enforcing consequences such as technical fouls or ejections.
    • Work collaboratively with other Officials, Facility Supervisors, and Program Coordinators to support program goals.
    • Assist with site setup and takedown as needed.
    • Attend required training.
    • Provide basic first aid if necessary.
    • Communicate promptly with supervisors regarding questions, concerns, or issues
    Position Qualifications 
    • Must be at least 14 years of age. 
    • Experience playing or basic knowledge of various sports rules, preferred but not required.
    • Training will be provided to those without experience.
    • Must be able to work evenings and weekends.
    Physical Demands and Work Environment 
    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and/or walk for up to 60 min at time, sit, talk, hear, read, and write. May periodically need to reach, stoop, crouch, or kneel. Employee may be asked to lift/carry and/or move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
    Compensation and Benefits
    • Sports Official wage: $16 - $32 per game (dependent on sport and game level).
    • Free Membership to the Community Rec Center after 30 days of hire.
    Compensation: $16.00 - $32.00 per hour
