We're searching for our next Sports Director, someone who loves sports, loves people, and gets excited about building programs that bring a community together.

This isn't a position where you simply maintain leagues and schedules. We're looking for someone ready to build, grow, innovate, and lead.

What You'll Lead

As Sports Director, you'll oversee a diverse sports operation serving youth, adults, and families. From youth basketball and volleyball to adult leagues, pickleball, clinics, camps, and open play, you'll create experiences that keep people active, connected, and coming back to the Y.

You'll also have the opportunity to think creatively about how we use our spaces, identify new programming opportunities, and expand offerings to reach even more people in our community. We're Looking for a Builder.

Our next Sports Director will be someone who can:

• Grow & Innovate - Develop new leagues, clinics, events, and opportunities while strengthening the programs we already offer.
• Lead People - Recruit, train, coach, and inspire staff, officials, and volunteer coaches to deliver an outstanding experience.
• Create Community - Build a welcoming sports culture where children, adults, and families feel connected, supported, and excited to participate.
• Drive Results - Use enrollment, revenue, budgets, NPS, and participant feedback to set goals and continuously improve our programs.

Our next Sports Director will help grow participation across youth and adult sports while delivering an exceptional participant experience. Current program goals include 240 youth basketball players per season, 220 youth volleyball participants, 120 adult basketball players, 55 adult volleyball players, and 35 pickleball participants per season, along with an NPS goal of 80 or higher.

But success isn't only measured by numbers.

Who Are We Looking For?

Someone who is energetic, organized, creative, relationship-driven, goal-oriented, and passionate about sports and community. Someone comfortable leading people, managing multiple programs, analyzing performance, and turning ideas into great experiences.

The position calls for relevant education and at least two years of experience in sports, camp, or similar youth programming with supervisory experience.

Education/ Experience Required:

• BA/BS in sports management, recreation management or similar field, business/ operational management or related field.
• Minimum of two years of experience in sports, camp or similar youth related programs with supervisory and payroll management experience required. Prior experience with youth development preferred.
• Experience serving on leadership team of a Y (or similar) membership organization serving over 3,000 membership households preferred.
• Proven results in increasing program quality and growth through exceptional planning and organizational skills.
• Highly motivated with the consistent ability to meet or exceed goals, cultivate and retain program participants.
• Ability to quickly build rapport and develop effective relationships with program prospects and others to achieve goals.
• Consistently self-driven and goal-oriented with the ability to set effective team and individual goals and take ownership for results.
• Demonstrated ability to multi-task and adapt to changing contexts and priorities.
• Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills with the ability to identify and leverage relevant data to use in planning and decision-making.
• Ability to understand, adapt to and interact with diverse people, teams, perspectives and cultures.
• Proficient in using email, Internet, and other PC-based applications with the ability to learn and adapt to new technology.

Certifications/Trainings Required:

• Must obtain within 30 days of employment and then maintain current certifications in CPR, AED, First Aid, and Oxygen Administration.
• Maintain other required certifications as stated in the training matrix

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• The employee needs sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions and to supervise program activities in a wide variety of indoor and outdoor locations.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use a computer for extended periods of time and be able to communicate using a computer and authorized work phone/smart device.
• Ability to instruct and observe participants during program activities.
• The employee frequently is required to see, observe, and hear all participants, and make sound judgments and decisions.
• Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position, including, but not limited to, leading class, walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting.
• Ability to sit and reach, and must be able to move around the work environment.
• Hear noises and distress signals in the program environment, including in the classroom and anywhere around the zone of responsibility.
• Must have flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
• Ability to lift and move a minimum of 30 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Ability to work in a variety of environments, specifically those subject to extreme humidity/dampness, heat and cold.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
• This position requires reliable transportation and willing to travel, if needed.
• This position may require availability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Must be able to perform all duties and functions of those that are supervised
• Must be available to work Monday-Friday evenings and Saturdays
